According to an insider, Sony are apparently considering to launch a Windows Phone device and it might happen as early as mid-2014. No deal has been signed between the company and Microsoft though but if the deal actually goes through, the new Sony Windows Phone will be positioned under the company’s VAIO family which is currently serving Windows-based laptops to consumers.
This particular report is quite interesting to say the least since Sony have been sticking exclusively to Google’s Android for that past few years when it comes to their Xperia smartphones. Then again, it’s not that Sony never had any fling with Microsoft’s smartphone operating system before; considering the fact that Sony Ericsson’s first Xperia smartphone was actually a Windows Mobile device. Not to forget, Sony Ericsson have also came out with Windows Phone 7 prototype codenamed “Jolie” (shown above) although the device didn’t get to see the light of the day eventually.
So, what do you think of a Sony Windows Phone 8? Will Sony able to challenge Nokia’s domination over the platform? In fact, will Sony actually able to help increase the OS market share? Let us know in the comment section.
