Just four days after Xiaomi Singapore announced that the new Redmi Note 4G would be released in Singapore, Xiaomi Malaysia has released a teaser of what appears to be the same device that will be launched in Malaysia next week.
The company has shared a video showing three seemingly similar devices loading the mi.com homepage – and one loads a lot faster that the rest, providing a strong hint that Xiaomi is ready to release the 4G LTE variant of the Redmi Note. Interestingly, the launch date of the device here is around the same time as the availability date in Singapore, where sales of the device will commence on 18 November.
Launched three months ago in China, the Redmi Note 4G is a refreshed variant of the Redmi Note, which was previously a 3G-only device. Alongside the faster network, the Redmi Note 4G now also packs a faster 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and an Adreno 305 GPU. It still has 2GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage on board like the 3G Redmi Note, while other specs include a 13MP rear camera, a slightly smaller 3100mAh battery (3200mAh on the 3G Redmi Note), MIUI 5 based on Android 4.4. Finally, while the dimensions is identical with the old Redmi Note, the 4G version weighs 10 grams less.
More importantly, the launch of this device is a milestone that marks the start of the availability of FDD-LTE-supported devices outside of China. This is likely an indication that the company will be releasing more of its FDD-LTE devices outside of its China market; devices such as the Mi 4, for example.
Coincidentally, the 17 November launch date for the Redmi Note 4G also coincides with the official launch of Xiaomi’s first Exclusive Service Centre (ESC) in Plaza Low Yat.
