It looks like HTC’s Android 5.0 Lollipop might not be based on a new HTC Sense UI version, HTC Sense 7. According to the latest screenshots, HTC will stick to Sense 6.0 for the Lollipop update on the HTC One (M8).
Just about three weeks ago, several screenshots claiming to be HTC Sense 7.0 software running on Android 5.0 Lollipop were published. It was only two simple shots, but it showed a more Lollipop-like interface with a heavier Material Design feel. The screenshots showed how colours of the background would change to match the colour of the app in use. The screenshots this time round however, is based on HTC Sense 6.0 and still looks very familiar to the Android 4.4 KitKat version.
If you’re a HTC user, you’ll immediately notice that the interface still looks very familiar. The icons like phone, messaging and camera still look identical to the current ones. There’s a Lollipop lock screen, a Recents view that looks stock Android while the Notification panel and Quick Settings have been tweaked to give a flatter, Material Design, look.
Android Lollipop is only limited to Nexus-branded devices at the moment, but HTC promises that the update will be available for selected HTC smartphones like the One M8, within 90 days – that’ll be early February.
