Fresh from its unveiling at IFA 2014 few months ago, HP has recently released the brand new Pavilion x2 into Malaysian market. Powered by a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z3745D processor which is a part of the Intel Bay Trail-T family, the Pavilion x2 is essentially a detachable 2-in-1 PC and is equipped with a 10.1-inch 1280×800 touch display.
Despite being powered by an Intel Atom processor, the HP Pavilion x2 is still a full-fledged Windows 8.1 machine and each unit is also accompanied by 1-year free subscription to Microsoft Office 365 which further increase its value-for-money factor. It is also equipped with 2GB of DDR3L RAM as well as 32GB internal storage and users are also able to utilise the microSD card slot on the tablet portion of the device to further increase its storage space.
Since the Pavilion x2 is a fanless device which was made possible through the usage of Intel Bay Trail processor, the tablet is rather thin at only 9.6mm and it is also quite light at 0.59kg. The device’s keyboard is quite slim as well at 7.3mm and together with tablet, the total weight of Pavilion x2 is still pretty low at only 0.92kg.
Available in Moonstone Grey and Tiffany Blue colorways, the detachable keyboard of Pavilion x2 also acts as a magnetic stand and a cover (sort of) for the tablet portion of the device. The keys on the keyboard itself are not shabby as well since they feel quite responsive when we used them during a brief media session with the device yesterday. Furthermore, the keyboard also features an ample-sized touchpad.
Another interesting feature of Pavilion x2 is its front-facing speakers which only appear on a handful of devices in the market. You might have also realized that the usual Windows Start button is nowhere to be seen on the tablet but truth to be told, it is actually still there. Just that it is actually located on the right side of the tablet rather than underneath the screen as per other Windows tablet out there.
Other than that, the tablet also comes with a number of I/O ports including a micro USB 2.0 which also acts as its charging port alongside a full sized USB 3.0, a micro HDMI and an audio-out/mic-in combo jack. Of course, the Pavilion x2 is also equipped with a full HD front-facing web camera and an integrated dual-array digital microphone.
In terms of battery life, HP claims that the Pavilion x2’s 2-cell 35Whr battery is able to power the device for up to 11.75 hours. Priced at RM 1199, the HP Pavilion x2 is readily available through HP Malaysia’s online store right away.
