GoPro action cameras are meant to take some punishment, but surely it wasn’t meant to survive underwater for a prolonged period of time like the one above. This GoPro camera was still operational after falling into a river and stayed submerged for 17 months.
The lost GoPro camera was recovered by YouTuber Beau Ouimette, who offered to return the camera to its owner free of charge (very kind of him). Ouimette knew the camera was underwater for 17 months based on the timestamp of the last video recording.
While this is an impressive feat of durability for a GoPro camera, it’s worth revisiting how a Lumia 800 managed to survive underwater for three and a half months. Sure, it’s not 17-month long, but the Lumia 800 isn’t a water-resistant phone to start with. The Lumia 800 is also still functional after the ordeal.
