Samsung has just taken the curtains off two brand new smartphones – Samsung Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3, the full metal unibody smartphones from Samsung that you have been waiting for. They are both ultra slim and are touted to be “optimised for social networking”.
If you think that the metal frame on the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Note 4 isn’t stylish enough, then the Galaxy A3 and A5 might be your phone of choice. Both features refined full metal unibody designs that are 6.7mm and 6.9mm thin respectively. Targeted for the younger generations, they are available in a variety of stylish colors including pearl white, midnight black, platinum silver, soft pink, light blue and champagne gold.
The Galaxy A5 and A3 are both powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. Since both devices are marketed for the younger generation, Samsung says that the 5MP front-facing camera is great for taking vivid selfies as it is packed with innovative photo taking features like Wide Selfie, Palm Selfie, Animated GIF, Beauty Face Feature and even Rear-cam Selfie. Other specs include Cat 4 LTE, NFC, 16GB of expandable storage (up to 64GB), and runs on Android 4.4 out of the box.

What sets the Galaxy A5 and A3 apart is the size and the rear camera. The Galazy A5 is the bigger brother of the two, with a 5” HD Super AMOLED display, while the A3 packs a 4.5” aHD Super AMOLED display at the front. The A5 is also slightly better with 2GB of RAM – the A3 only has 1GB of RAM. Finally, since the Galaxy A5 is bigger, it has a larger battery of 2,300mAh compared to the 1,900mAh one on the Galaxy A3.
The Galaxy A5 and A3 will be available in selected markets including China starting next month.
