Remember the Nokia HERE maps for Android we saw last week? Well good news for those of you who are using a Samsung Galaxy device because the final version is now available for download on the Samsung Galaxy app store.
Nokia HERE Maps for Android is available for download for selected Samsung Galaxy devices like the Galaxy S5. Once downloaded, the app will be available for use immediately with or without a Nokia HERE account. If you sign up for an account, you can create your own Collections, a categorized set of map bookmarks. Collections will be stored on the cloud so if you have multiple supported devices, you can easily access those bookmarks anytime and anywhere.
Nokia HERE Maps is pretty straightforward and easy to use but if you need some guidance, visit Nokia HERE’s blog for a quick tutorial. What makes Nokia HERE stand out from other mapping services out there like the ever-popular Google Maps is that it has an offline mode. Sure, Google Maps also has a similar feature, but you are required to save sections of the map to make offline, and you won’t be able to search for places you haven’t already saved nor have it navigate you around. HERE on the other hand, has everything stored locally so you get a fully functional map even without a network connection.
