Apple has a habit of not going into full details about the hardware they use on their devices, but that doesn’t stop us from finding out. According to benchmark scores found on 2 different benchmark websites, the beefed up A8X chip used on the iPad Air 2 has 3-cores clocked at 1.5GHz and as expected, is paired with 2GB of RAM.
The benchmark results on both CPUMark as well as on GeekBench shows the results of a device named “iPad5,4”, believed to be the Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad Air 2.
CPU Mark rating showing 3 cores
Prior to the launch of the iPad Air 2, the device was already rumoured to pack 2GB of RAM on board that is catered for a new split-screen multitasking capability. Apple did not mention anything about multitasking but 2GB of RAM sounds good, no?
As for other specs, according to iFixit’s recent teardown of the iPad Air 2, the device has a smaller 7340mAh battery compared to the 8827mAh battery found on the previous generation iPad Air. Despite a smaller battery, Apple claims that it can give the same 10-hours battery life of the new iPad.
