In effort to cater to customers demand, U Mobile has embarked on an effort to expand its network footprint throughout Malaysia. The expansion will involves significant numbers of new sites in numerous areas that are considered key cities and strategic areas.
Expected to be completed by the end of 2015, the RM 1.5 billion move will resulted in 2,000 new sites with 1,000 being 3G sites and the remaining are LTE. Initially, these areas will be located in Peninsular Malaysia and among the locations that were mentioned by U Mobile are Wilayah Persekutuan, Selangor, Seremban, Port Dickson, Nilai, Ipoh, Lumut, Penang, Johor Bharu, Muar, Kluang, Segamat, and Batu Pahat.
Through this plan, the telco hoped that it will be able to help U Mobile to grow its market share to 10% as well as 50% increase in revenue. As for East Malaysia, we were told that the telco will be working to strengthen its service at the region once it is done with the newly announced expansion plan in Peninsular. However, the telco don’t have any specific timeline to announce at the moment.
