IFA week is finally here but before the show starts for real, here are more image leaks of one of the more exciting devices to look forward to – the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. All the leaks we’ve seen so far featured blurry images but this time round, say hello to what looks like press images that shows off the Xperia Z3 Compact in a range of pretty attractive colors.
As you can see, the Z3 Compact will come in at least four different colours – black, white, green and orange-red (it looks like orange in some angle and red in another). The pictures, published by an Australian website, Ausdroid, shows off the Z3 Compact that looks, well, pretty much the same as the Japanese company’s Z-series smartphones – a rectangular-shaped smartphone that uses glass for the front and back of the device. What sets the Z3 Compact apart from existing devices, particularly the Z1 Compact, is how it comes with a matching matte translucent material covering all four sides, giving it a very pretty finish.
Of course, these are all speculations for now. The Z3 Compact is said to come with a 4.5” 720p display while it’s larger sibling will sport a 5.2” 1080p display. To be powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, it will feature top-of-the-line hardware such as the same 20.7MP rear camera and a water-resistant body.
Meanwhile, over the past few days, Sony has shared several teasers for its IFA 2014 event. Not too long after the video teaser shared last week, Sony posted an image with the following dimension: “124mm x 6.4mm x ?”. It should be pointing to a new smartphone however, based on all the leaks we’ve seen so far, it doesn’t seem to match anything – the Xperia Z3 is rumoured to have a dimension of 146.46 x 7.3 x 72.09mm, while the Xperia Z3 Compact is rumored to measure at 126.98 x 8.8 x 64.9mm so in Sony’s words, what could these numbers possibly mean?
Finally, in the last teaser, it looks like Sony will be taking waterproof to the next level. The teaser says “We’ll be getting deep at #IFA2014. But how deep..?” followed by an image that says “2m?”. Right now, the Xperia M2 Aqua that was announced not too long ago is touted to be equipped with the “world’s highest level of waterproofing available in a smartphone” that can be immersed in up to 1.5meters of water. This means that if the new device(s) can be immersed in 2 meters of water, it will definitely be very exciting.
Alright now, what are you looking forward to the most in IFA 2014?
