Update: Hit the break for the price! Malaysia will be among the first countries to receive the Ascend G7.
If the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 that was announced just now is too expensive for your liking, here’s a cheaper alternative from Huawei – Ascend G7. The Ascend G7 comes with a large 5.5” 720p INCELL display that combines a digitizer, touch input and LCD into a single layer, allowing for a very thin display. Huawei has manage to pack everything in to a very slim profile of only 7.6mm.
While it may be a mid-range device, Huawei has decided to give the G7 a premium design. It is made entirely out of metal, with fine details and features a floating design. On the inside, it features a 64-bit quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, and is 4G LTE-enabled with a Cat 4 modem built inside.
Camera wise, the Ascend G7 has a 13MP BSI camera with f2.0 aperture. It has a 28mm wide angle lens, IMAGESmart Engine 2.0, and is capable of capturing 1080p videos. The front has a 5MP camera with 88-degree wide angle lens and of course, a beauty mode for both front and rear cameras, for both pictures and videos. Other camera features include Ultra Snapshot that captures instant pictures in only 1.4 seconds, and a Lytro-like All-Focus feature that allows you to shoot now and focus later.
Other specs include a 3000mAh built-in battery for 600 hours of standby, Ultra-Saving power mode, smart gesture control, and will be available in three metallic colours – gold, silver and black. Pricing and availability have not been mentioned, let’s just keep our fingers crossed that Huawei will stick with the affordable price it’s famous for. The Huawei Ascend G7 will retail at 299 Euro, that’s about RM1,240 and if you wish to get your hands on one, great news. Malaysia will be among the first countries to receive the device.
