The launch date for the Galaxy Note 4 by Samsung is likely to be confirmed with the announcement that the Korean giants will be holding the next Unpacked event in IFA 2014 in Berlin on September 3. This is the traditional ground for Samsung’s Galaxy Note announcements, and it is very likely that we’ll be seeing the latest flagship phablet unveiled in Berlin next month.
The announcement of the next Galaxy Note 4 is seemingly confirmed by various sources, from the Korea Times to SamMobile to even our own source within Samsung Malaysia. In fact, some members of the media have already received invitations for the event, with the one attached above received by Dutch media.
The successor to the Galaxy Note 3 will likely sport a 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560×1440) display. While Super AMOLED displays have been Samsung’s pride and glory, the Note 4 may sport an OLED display – another rumour also points to a curved display variant. The phone might be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB of RAM, as well as the new Samsung Exynos 5433 chipset in a separate variant.
According to SamMobile, the rear camera of the Galaxy Note 4 will be a 16-megapixel Sony IMX240 sensor and feature optical image stabilisation. A seemingly crazy speculation is that the Note 4 will even pack an ultraviolet sensor, which will plug into the S Health app to measure UV rays from the sun, telling users whether the rays are harmful to the users. Finally, the phone will run on the latest version of Android – 4.4.4 or newer.
Aside from the Galaxy Note 4, Samsung will reportedly also announce a bunch of new wearable devices in the next Unpacked event. Instead of smartwatches, this time, the company will be launching the previously rumoured Gear Glass, and a virtual reality device, the Gear VR powered by Oculus VR. It seems like Samsung was using their patents for the “Sports Glasses” after all.
