It looks like Apple may finally be offering more RAM for its tablet devices, it has been reported that the Cupertino company might be doubling the RAM for its next generation iPad Air from 1GB to 2GB. Don’t be too happy yet though because it seems like the upgrade will only be given to the iPad Air 2 while its smaller sibling will continue to offer 1GB of RAM.
Shared by a Taiwanese website, TechNews, Apple will only offer 2GB of RAM for the next generation iPad Air, while the next generation iPad mini will retain the 1GB of RAM that has been found on Apple’s tablets since the third-generation iPad.
It is believed that Apple has been keeping its RAM low for so many years because they wish to keep the cost low, save space and preserve battery, so why will the company change its mind? Apple has been rumored to be working on a split-screen multitasking capability for its 9.7” iPad so the bum in memory could be used to cope with its new function.
In the same report, TechNews is also shared some information about the Apple iWatch that we’ve all been waiting for. The website suggest that the iWatch will come with 512MB of internal memory and 8GB of storage. Again, take all rumors with a pinch of salt, TechNews does not have a perfect track record for such news, but they did accurately predict a sapphire display for the Touch ID home button ahead of the launch of the iPhone 5s.
Will an iPad Air with split-screen multitasking capability and larger amount of RAM for a smoother experience lure you into hopping into the Apple bandwagon?
