Gaming peripheral maker Razer has come up with a way for gamers to keep track of all those enticing discounts on the internet. Called the Razer Cortex, it is a desktop application that tracks and compares the prices of games across several different online stores. It may also include Razer’s Game Booster as part of the package as well, but that isn’t as much fun as always knowing the cheapest place to get games.
Razer Cortex is currently in the beta test phase, and the company is taking applications for those who want early access. Screenshots and PR pictures appear to make it look a little like Steam; especially as it appears to be able to launch games from the application, copy saves to the cloud, and even record and share gameplay.
Game prices are sourced from mainly US vendors at the moment, with the usual suspects like Amazon, Steam, Origin, Green Man Gaming and GoG all appearing on the list. It will even provide users with a side by side comparison of prices, just in case people want to see for themselves. Prices are supposedly updated every hour, although that will have to wait to be tested when the software is out in the open.
There are no complaints about being able to get cheaper games all the time, especially as it is nigh impossible to keep track of every sale that happens on the internet. The only thing that will hurt are our wallets.
