LG will be unveiling three new monitors in different sizes and features at next month’s IFA consumer electronics trade show, including a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor with a curved display, and a 144Hz gaming monitor.
LG claims that its latest high-end monitor, the 34UC97, is the first 21:9 aspect ratio monitor in the world. On top of that, the 34-inch monitor will also feature a curved IPS screen which is said to give more detail and accuracy to the video quality. LG’s flagship monitor also features a unique 21:9 Quad HD resolution of 3440 x 1440. The monitor also features a 7W speaker by MAXX AUDIO and supports Thunderbolt 2 connectivity, allowing multiple devices to be daisy-chained together. The monitor will be compatible with both PC and Mac.
In addition, LG will also introduce the 31MU97 Digital Cinema 4K Monitor, featuring a resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels on a 31-inch monitor. If that resolution sounds odd, that’s because it is the Digital Cinema Initiative’s 4K standard, instead of the common 3840 x 2160 4K resolution, making it an ideal choice for film professionals as well as for those working in design and photography. The Digital Cinema 4K Monitor is able to reproduce 99 percent of Adobe’s RGB colour space and is calibration-ready.
At IFA 2014, LG will also unveil a monitor specifically for gamers. The LG 24GM77 Gaming Monitor may not have a curved display like the 34UC97 or the 4K resolution of the 31MU97, but it has a high refresh rate of 144 Hz, making it suited for the latest first person shooter (FPS) games, while LG Dynamic Action Sync and Motion 240 cuts down input lag and motion blur.
