Impressed by the new USB connecter, USB Type-C, that is fully reversible? Well, it looks like Apple has got something similar for its next generation iPhone and its launch could be as early as one to two months away.
A picture was recently shared by Sonny Dickson on his Twitter account, showing off how the new USB port would look like. Unlike the USB Type-C cable, Apple’s new cable features a thinner layer of pins that floats in the middle of the connector, with enough space to fit in pins on both sides. This means that, like the existing Lightning cables, it doesn’t matter if you plug the USB port in upside down or the right way up, it’ll still fit.
Incase you’re wondering, Sonny Dickson is an Australian tech blogger that has a pretty good track record in getting leaks related to Apple products. Of course, this alone doesn’t prove that the picture is indeed what Apple will launch alongside its next generation iPhones, the cable could be something made by third-party manufacturers, not an official Apple Lightning cable.
Anyhow, Apple’s event is rumored to be happening on 9 September 2014, so only about 3 more weeks to go before we know for sure what Apple has in stored for its fans around the world.
