HTC has begun sending out press invites for an event in New York scheduled for the 19th of August. With the recent rumours about a HTC One M8 for Windows, many are predicting that this event is meant to unveil the Taiwanese company’s latest flagship smartphone, powered by Windows Phone 8.1.
The collective rumours steer us towards the fact that HTC would launch its new Windows Phone-powered handset in the chassis of the One M8 at the event. While this is just a mere prediction, there is no shortage of rumours that build the specsheet of the HTC One M8 for Windows. The phone may carry a Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, and a 5-inch display with a 1080p resolution. Although there are still doubts that suggest whether or not the Duo Camera would be present on the back, the One M8 for Windows still shares a lot of features with its Android counterpart.
The HTC One M8 for Windows might launch with a firmware running on Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 (Update 1). If that is the case, it would be the first Windows Phone-powered device running on the first update for Windows Phone 8.1 while others will have to wait till September. The new update also supports interactive cases. Having said that, the new device may be able to utilize the Dot View Case in a Windows Phone environment.
The phone may launch on US telco, Verizon, however, there is no confirmation as yet whether this device will make its way to other countries in the future.
