This is going to get many people really frustrated. It appears that the third round of Xiaomi sales, for 5000 Mi Power Banks, has sold out in less than two minutes. The official numbers provided by Xiaomi Malaysia is 1 minute, two seconds. Yup, this round has broken the previous record for the time it took for the items to sell out – and is sure to make more Mi fans really, really angry.
Interestingly, this time around, some who managed to place their orders for the Mi Power Banks did so with little to no fuss. Those whom we spoke to said the experience this time around was significantly improved, without needing to refresh the page repeatedly to get their orders through.
Incredibly, however, stocks were completely sold out less than two minutes after they went on sale. Already, a quick check on Xiaomi Malaysia‘s Facebook page seems to show the same complaints, with more and more frustrated users voicing out at what they deem to be some sort of marketing scam.
Then again, the second round of sales has already shown that the ordering process can be gamed, with some managing to order multiple times within a very short space of time, hoarding up stocks to sell at inflated prices. Could it be that this time around, more people have found out how to use all kinds of methods, including direct links, to place multiple orders?
The time it has taken for its products to sell out is clearly hurting the brand, and especially its relationship with its fans. Let’s see how Xiaomi Malaysia responds this time.
