Mobile first, cloud first company: a mantra that is currently defining the pathway of Microsoft under its new CEO, Satya Nadella. Today, the company shows yet another strong commitment to that strategy by increasing the amount of cloud storage for its OneDrive users.
Specifically, OneDrive users will soon receive 15GB of free storage while all types of Office 365 subscriptions will receive 1TB of space which mirrors the treatment given to Office 365 for Business users back in April. Prior to today’s announcement, the amount that these users received were 7GB and 20GB respectively.
In addition to the storage upgrade, Microsoft will be lowering down the pricing for additional storage on OneDrive as well. Soon, the price of 100 GB will be USD 1.99 (RM 6.50) and 200GB will be available for USD 3.99 (RM 12.90). Previously, they are priced at USD 7.49 (RM 24.20) and USD 11.49 (RM 37) respectively. There was no mention of the 50GB option, so we assume that it will be phased out by Microsoft soon enough.
All these changes will take place starting from next month onwards, so keep a close look at your OneDrive storage meter and get ready to save more stuff into the cloud.
