Earlier today, ASUS Malaysia has announced that ZenFone 4 is now finally in Malaysia for RM 299; close to one month after its original release date. The announcement has also stated that the device which is the smallest and the most affordable model in ASUS ZenFone family is available from retailers throughout the country.
With that, it seems like normality has finally been restored for the ZenFone series in Malaysia. However, the news that we receive from the folks within the distribution channel depicts a different picture though.
According to multiple sources, it turns out that supplies of the ZenFone 4 are rather limited. The amount of units available to retailers is said to be in the range of 2 to 10 units and obviously, the amount that each retailer will receive varies from one to another. Chances are, you might face some difficulties in order to obtain the ASUS ZenFone 4 despite the official announcement by ASUS Malaysia earlier today.
Meanwhile, the arrival date for ASUS ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 are still not yet known at the moment according to ASUS Malaysia. Interestingly, our sources did mentioned that the delay might be somewhat beneficial to customers that are still waiting for both devices to arrive in our market but unfortunately, no actual detail can be confirmed at this moment.
Regardless of that, this delay has led to plenty of restless souls out there and has been going on for far too long. Frankly speaking, it didn’t bode well for ASUS since it has resulted in lost opportunity for the company and reduced amount of confidence among consumers especially that it is now facing tough competitions from the likes of Huawei and Xiaomi.
All in all, there is really nothing else that ASUS can do to minimize the damage that the delay has cost them apart from accelerating the movement of ZenFone into our market as swiftly as possible.
