An extensive set of screenshots have appeared online, showing off what appears to be BlackBerry 10.3, the next major update for the BlackBerry 10 platform. Besides a subtle change in colour theme, what appears to set tongues wagging is the prospect of a Siri-like voice assistant baked into BlackBerry 10.
For starters, the screenshots reveal that there may be a subtly new keyboard layout to go along with a new red-and-black colour scheme. The camera UI has also been tweaked a little, too, showing only a small red shutter button. However, the camera app itself has several new features, such as 720p recording in both 30 and 60fps, a new timer mode, a panorama mode, as well as a auto-HDR suggestion mode.
Besides that, BlackBerry 10.3 may also incorporate some pretty nifty gestures, such as waking up the display when it detects the device has been lifted up from a flat surface, as well as locking the phone when it is placed face down.
Finally, while there aren’t much to go beyond a screenshot (below), but it looks like BlackBerry 10.3 will feature a new virtual voice assistant in the mould of Siri or even Cortana on Windows Phone.
For now, information about this new upate is still scarce, but you can be pretty sure BlackBerry are already prepping this update – which is a positive sign for the company and its new CEO.
