Rovio has announced its latest mobile game from the “Angry Birds” franchise – and it appears the Finnish developers may have found a potential goldmine by developing the game for young girls. To be called “Angry Birds Stella”, the game will see the introduction of a whole new set of characters alongside the titular pink bird, who first appeared in one of the “Angry Birds Seasons” game.
According to Rovio CEO Mikael Hed, “Angry Birds Stella” is “breaking the mold” by “introducing strong, passionate characters who really stand for something”, clearly hitting a note with female-oriented content. In addition to the game, Rovio is also planning other merchandise such as plushies, toys, books, animations and “other fun stuff”.
For now though, the game mechanics of “Angry Birds Stella” is still under wraps, but Rovio will slowly be revealing them as we get closer to the game official launch, expected to be this fall. Those interested can also follow the new Angry Birds Stella Tumblr page, where Rovio will be posting the latest updates for the game.
