The Nokia Normandy leaks and rumours are seemingly incessant. This time, the serial @evleaks Twitter account has revealed what seems to be a promotional poster for the device that is codenamed Normandy. In it, the “Nokia X” moniker is prominently displayed, all but confirming the name of the device. What’s also apparent is the Asha-esque look of the Nokia X, which again indicates that the smartphone is likely an entry-level one that may either sit above the Asha lineup – or even replace it altogether.
Interestingly, there may be some truth to this. Nokia has apparently seeded developer units of the Nokia X to select developers in India in an effort to boost its proprietary app store, codenamed Asha on Linux (AoL). GSMarena reports that most of the top 100 apps on the Google Play Store will also make an appearance on the AoL app store.
Finally, the retail price of the Nokia X will likely also be very aggressive, with some rumours pegging it at around 80 euros (around RM370) – just slightly above the price range of the Nokia Asha devices.
