Look at what Facebook is doing, just shortly after announcing that they will be launching Messenger for Windows Phone, Facebook will soon kill off its Messenger app for the Windows desktop platform. Starting today, Facebook Messenger for Windows users have been receiving a message from the social network saying tha the app is shutting down next week without giving any reasons or further details.
“We’re sorry, but we can no longer support Facebook Messenger for Windows, and it will stop working on March 3, 2014.”
Don’t be too worried though, you can still be able to use Facebook messenger from your Android and iOS devices (hopefully Windows Phone to come soon), and as for those who are on your desktop, you can always log into Facebook on the web to keep chatting and to view all your messages.
Yesterday, Facebook also announce that it will be killing off its email service, you know, that “@Facebook.com” email of yours that you received about 3 years ago? You don’t? Well, you’re not alone, Facebook realizes that most people haven’t been using their Facebook email address so they’re killing it off so they can have more time to improve their mobile messaging experience for everyone.
It’s very common for companies to do a little spring-cleaning once in a while and hopefully, this means that Facebook will be bringing WhatsApp integration in the near future? Fingers crossed.
