A long time coming, the new AMD Kaveri family of A-Series APUs are finally on their way to the market – true to the announcement that the company has made at its CES 2014 press conference last week. Interestingly, AMD has also added one more, previously unannounced Kaveri chip into the mix that is called A8-7600 which will be released into the market later this quarter.
With that, AMD now has revealed the full specifications for all three new 2014 A-Series APU processors. Here is how the specs looks like when compared against each other:
From the table above, you might realized that the AMD A8-7600 has two set of CPU clock speed. The reason behind this is due to the fact that the APU comes with two level of TDP settings that users are able to tweak. In general, higher TDP allows users to operate at higher clock speed while lower TDP will reduces A8-7600’s power consumption at the expense of CPU speed.
As these new Kaveri APUs utilize the new FM2+ socket, they are not compatible with the older FM2 socket. So, whether you like it or not, a new FM2+ motherboard must be included in your shopping list if you planning to purchase one of the new Kaveri A-Series APUs. Interesting enough, the Kaveri A10 APUs will come bundled with Battlefield 4 although it is not known if the offer applies to Malaysia as well.
Meanwhile, the release date and pricing for all these new Kaveri APUs for Malaysian market is not yet known at the moment. Nevertheless, AMD Malaysia has assured us that the new Kaveri APUs will be released in our market very soon. As usual, we’ll keep you updated once that happens.
