On a live stream just a while ago, Instagram have announced their foray in to the short video world much to the dismay of competitors Vine. The Social Media giants have stamped their foot in domination, offering 15 second video that can be broken up into various clips and as you probably guessed, they have reworked 13 new filters designed specially for video. Probably the best thing about this, is how the videos are displayed in the feed; The videos appear seamlessly and start playing when you lift your finger when scrolling through the feed. One of the cool features is that Instagram also adds the Cinema mode to stabilize your shaky video after its been shot. Unfortunately this functionality is only available on the iPhone 4s and 5.
What will this mean to us? For starters, data consumption is going to go through the roof! I wonder how quick we will be able to upload videos as well, given the state of some data providers. Well, you can answer those for yourself with the new Instagram 4.0 which is available NOW through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
