First Look: Alienware 17 Gaming Laptop

Alienware 17

Being one of three new Alienware laptops that Dell has unveiled at E3 2013, the exterior design of Alienware 17 is similar to the Alienware 14 that we have discussed yesterday. These identical elements include the new jet engines and stealth bombers inspired design, anodized aluminium shell, magnesium alloy body and the vast AlienFX lighting zones across the new gaming laptop.

Additionally, the Alienware 17 is also slightly thicker at 48.46mm as compared to its predecessor (the M17x-R4) which measures at 44.5mm. That being said, the laptop is around 100 grams lighter than M17x-14 at 4.15kg which nevertheless is still quite hefty. Hence, what really set the Alienware 17 and the smaller Alienware 14 apart are their size and the hardware that are packed into them.

Targeted for more hardcore users, the Alienware 17 is powered by the Haswell-based 2.7GHz Intel Core i7-4800MQ quad-core processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M GPU with 3GB of GDDR5 memory. We were told that customers are also able to choose either NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M with 2GB GDDR5 or GeForce GTX780M with 4GB GDDR5 as well but somehow, those options are not yet available on Dell Malaysia’s website at the time this article is published.
