Among the feature that Intel have managed to significantly improve on the new 4th generation Core processors (a.k.a Haswell) over their predecessors is their graphics capability. As you might know, Intel Core processors line-up have been equipped with the integrated Intel HD Graphics since 2010 but it was never capable enough for heavy usage especially in gaming.
On the 4th generation Intel Core processors, the Intel Iris and Iris Pro Graphics represented the higher tier of the newly improved integrated GPU for Intel Core processors. The company claimed that these new integrated GPUs are able to provide between two to three times 3D graphics performance improvement over Intel HD Graphics on 3rd generation Intel Core processors (a.k.a Ivy Bridge).
However, not all 4th generation Intel Core processors will be featuring them as Iris and Iris Pro Graphics are available only on selected SKUs which you can find out through Intel’s ARK database. Meanwhile, both GRID 2 demos are certainly impressive but we certainly would like to experience the power of these new Intel integrated GPUs on an end-user product before we can put our verdict on them for sure.
