Microsoft and developers 343 Industries has taken the wraps off a wholly new way to experience the Halo universe, with the announcement of the new “Halo: Spartan Assault” game. And no, this will not be a new Xbox One title. Instead, this new Halo title is a Windows 8/Windows Phone 8 exclusive, and it’s coming next month.
Developed by 343 Industries in conjunction with Vanguard Games, “Halo: Spartan Assault” is the first top-down action shooter that extends the Halo experience to touch-based devices. The game is set between the events of “Halo 3” and “Halo 4”, and explores the first missions of the Spartan Ops program and dives deeper into the backstory of Human-Covenant wars. Players can choose to play as Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis stationed aboard the UNSC Infinity as they battle Covenant forces across 25 missions, earning in-game achievements and medals along the way. The game also allows players to compete against friends in Leaderboards, and Weekly Challenges lets players hone their skills in the game.
“Halo: Spartan Assault” will be released on both the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 Stores in July for $6.99 (around RM21). To find out more about the game, head on to the Halo Waypoint at http://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/games/halospartanassault.
