Acer may have just announced the Iconia W3, the first 8” Windows 8 tablet on Monday and it looks like Microsoft is already working hard on pushing small Windows 8 device like such. According to Tami Reller, the CFO of Windows, Microsoft will be shipping free Office Home and Student 2013 software for “small” Windows 8 tablets. According to Engadget, the definition of “small” in this scenario refers to Windows 8 tablets below 10” size – I can only think of one at the moment.
The free software included are Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote; Outlook 2013 will be out of the picture. However, Windows RT 8.1 devices that runs on ARM-based tablets will get access to Outlook RT – devices like Surface RT, Dell XPS 10, Lenovo Yoga 11, and Asus VivoTab RT.
