There’s always lots to see and do at Computex and one vendor who graciously gave us a huge chunk of time and a tour around their booth and their new products was OCZ. Coming out of San Jose California, OCZ was always known for their RAM and their Vertex SSDs. This Computex, OCZ have come with some awesome offerrings both in the Consumer and Enterprise sector.
Starting off with their new Fatal1ty series PSU’s which come in 550, 750 and 1,000W flavours, these new PSUs will slot in between the current ZX series and ZT series PSU families. The PSU’s (named after FPS legend Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel) feature 100% individually sleeved modular cables, a whole series of tech to make most efficient use of power and increase reliability as well as a specialised DC-to-DC convertor to be Intel Haswell ready.

The Vector PCIe SSD
Making it’s debut at Computex, the new OCZ Vector PCIe SSD is one heck of a beast. Driven by the cutting-edge Indilinx Barefoot 3 Controller, the Vector PCIe has improved performance regardless if its compressed or uncompressed datastreams. The OCZ Vector PCIe SSD features 2 of the controllers and is designed specially for Windows based client desktops and workstations. The Vector PCIe SSD will also support the OCZ VCA (Virtualized Controller Architecture) 2.0 featureset including SMART and TRIM support. You will also be able to boot this as a direct-attach storage device. The Vector PCIe SSD will boast speeds of up to 1000MB/s and 140,000 IOPS and will come in 240GB, 480GB and 960GB flavours.
The Vertex 450 SATA III SSD
An improvement on their already great Vertex 400, the Vertex 450 uses the latest 20nm NAND flash processes to deliver a great balance between performance and reliability. The Vertex 450 is a sleek drive at only 7mm thick. Using OCZ Proprietary Silicon (Indilinx), The Vertex 450 boasts speeds up to:
- 540MB/s Sequential Read
- 530MB/s Sequential Write
- 85,000 IOPS 4K Random Read
- 90,000 IOPS 4K Random Write
The Vertex 450 SSD will be available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB with a 3 year warranty. There is no local pricing as yet, but the US RRP is USD129.99, USD234.99 and USD499.99 respectively.
