Three students from Multimedia University (MMU) made their alma mater proud this week, as they emerged triumphant in the F-Secure National Inter-Varsity IT Security Competition. Tan Jin Fu, Ong Yi Hao and Soh Chong Hwa who together form the winning “Little Pwnies” team, beat team “CIA Triad” from Universiti Sains Malaysia in the final round.
The F-Secure National Inter-Varsity IT Security Competition is one of the initiatives between F-Secure and the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) to develop local talents and encourage more Malaysian undergraduates to venture into the field of IT security through education.
The competition, which was held over the past month, saw 200 participants from 28 universities nationwide taking part. The chief judge of the competition was Chieft Research Officer of F-Secure Corporation and computer security expert, Mikko Hyppönen.
As the winning team, each member of “Little Pwnies” won themselves a high-end Windows 8 laptop worth RM5000, while runners up won three Android tablets worth RM2, 000 each.
