Yet another alternative mobile operating system is set to make its debut very soon, and the first major step towards populating the app ecosystem for Tizen will begin next Monday. Come June 3, the Tizen App Challenge will be open for app submissions to the soon-to-be-opened Tizen Store, offering a sensational $4 million in cash prizes to winning apps.
App developers looking to enter the Tizen App Challenge must first submit their apps to the Tizen Store, where it must pass the required certification. Once approved, they can then submit their approved app(s) to the Tizen App Challenge, where an international panel of judges will evaluate winning entries.
The Challenge will be divided into Games Categories and Non-Games Categories for a total of nine categories, and 54 cash prizes to be won. With a minimum of $30,000 in prize money and a maximum of a cool $200,000, the Tizen App Challenge is easily one of the most lucrative app development competitions ever organised. Also, there is even an additional $50,000 to be given to the top 10 ranked HTML5 apps on top of any prize money that has already been won.
The Tizen App Challenge will be open for entries beginning June 3, and will close on October 1, 2013. Winners will be announced on or around November 1 this year. For more information on the Challenge, head on to the official webpage here, or read the FAQs here.
