Update: Jolla has released a press statement regarding the management changes, and is available here.
Jolla’s top management has been reshuffled again, with current CEO Marc Dillon replaced as well as the addition of new members to the Jolla board. Replacing Dillon is Tomi Pienimäki, an expert in logistics and supply chain whose previous position was CIO of Itella Corporation. Previously, Dillon replaced the first CEO Jussi Hurmola and has only been on the job for seven months. However, Dillon will remain in the company as the head of software development.
The company is moving forward with the reshuffle, as the expected May 20 launch date for the highly-anticipated first Jolla-branded smartphone looms. As chairman Antti Saarnio states, the company is “preparing for product delivery, which changes the role of the CEO”.
“When Marc started as CEO we agreed that he would take the lead until the end of software development phase. We all knew that we are going to need a professional CEO after that,” he added.
In addition to the CEO change, Jolla also welcomed three new members to its board of directors. The first is another MeeGo veteran, Ari Jaaksi, who had been the head of the MeeGo platform development. The other two new members are Steve Lau, chairman and CEO of Chine Fortune Holding Ltd (whose company had been an early Nokia distributor in China), and Boukerche Mohamed, an entrepreneur and investor.
