Back at CES 2013, Samsung and LG both announced “the world’s first OLED 3D TV”, with both companies showing off their take on the newest display panel technology. Now, the debate can finally be laid to rest, as LG is now accepting pre-orders for the 55EA9800 in Korea, with shipping dates estimated to be in June. Pricing details were also revealed, with the 55-inch beauty going for a cool 15 million Won (approximately $13500 or RM42000). LG also added that plans for a release in other markets is underway, and will be announced “in the months ahead”.
The craze for curved displays is made possible with the new flexible OLED display panels. Curved displays allow for the entire screen surface to be equidistant from the viewer’s eyes, which eliminates the problem of screen-edge visual distortion and loss of detail, resulting in an “IMAX-like” viewing experience, right from the comfort of your home.
