With over 55 million TVs sold last year, Samsung currently holds a massive 30% market share in global HDTV sales. With the introduction of the company’s latest HDTV lineup, it would not be surprising to see this year’s numbers topping 2012’s record. The new line of Samsung SMART TVs is spearheaded by the ultra-cool 85S9 UHDTV, the world’s largest 4K resolution TV unveiled back at CES 2013. Featuring what Samsung calls the “Timeless Gallery Design”, the 85-inch 85S9 will be available for deep-pocketed Malaysians only in Q3 this year. Pricing details, however, were not revealed.
In addition, Samsung also announced several new exquisitely-designed LED and plasma HDTVs for 2013. The flagship LED model, the F8000, features the Meta Form Design which gives the illusion that the TV screen is floating. All of Samsung’s 2013 SMART TVs will feature a brand new Smart Hub interface, featuring three panels that arrange apps and other content better than the original one-panel Smart Hub in 2012’s models. Also, Samsung’s Smart Interaction has been refined for better gesture, voice and face recognition. With the improved Smart Interaction, users can now perform actions like flip, rotate and even zoom in on photos. In addition, when browsing Facebook on the TV, a thumbs up gesture will like a post or picture. All these interactions are captured on a camera located on top of the TV – which also can be conveniently flipped in to a little storage compartment when not in use.
Aside from that, Samsung also announced the new F8500 Smart Plasma TV. Featuring a stunning and sophisticated Magnum design, the F8500 plasma TV sports the new Smart Hub interface and Smart Interaction so videophiles have a choice of choosing either LED or plasma technology for their HDTVs while still being able to enjoy the latest features of Samsung’s SMART TVs.
Samsung also has some good news for those who own last year’s HDTVs with support for the Smart Evolution Kit. Roughly the size of an external hard disk, the Evolution Kit features the same quad-core processor that powers Samsung’s 2013 premium SMART TVs. To be available at the end of Q2 or the start of Q3, the Evolution Kit will upgrade supported premium SMART TVs from 2012 with the more powerful processor, as well as update the Smart Hub to the latest interface.

Some Samsung HDTVs also feature “reverse mirroring” onto smartphones.
The Samsung F8000 HDTV will be available this month in two screen sizes, 55 inches and 65 inches. The 65-inch variant will retail for RM21999. On the other hand, the 64-inch F8500 plasma HDTV will also be available this month at RM13999. The company has also unveiled new additions to the Series 5, 6 and 7 LED TV and Series 4+ and 5+ plasma TV lineups.
Complementing the Samsung HDTVs are the Samsung Blu-Ray Home Entertainment Systems. Featuring a range of 5.1 and 7.1Ch systems, the flagship system, the HT-F9750W, features a 1330W 7.1Ch system with wireless rear speakers, Bluetooth and built-in WiFi. In addition, the HT-F9750W also features the Smart Hub, Full HD 3D playback as well as Full HD upscaling to 4K resolution. Audio quality on the HT-F9750W also has a vacuum tube pre-amplifier and gallium nitride that creates pure, distortion-free sound.
Samsung’s WiFi-enabled air conditioner
Finally, Samsung also announced a range of new air conditioners that feature the new Virus Doctor plasma ionizer. The top-of-the-line AR13FV even comes with WiFi connectivity, which allows for remote control of the air conditioner. A companion app will allow users to remotely switch on the AR13FV from their smartphone or tablet, which is an extremely convenient solution for those coming home after a long day at work, or hosting an unexpected party at home.
