Update: We’ve now added the iPhone 5 as well as the Nokia Lumia 920 (with the latest Portico update) to the list. Due to today’s rather tepid weather compared to yesterday, the original outdoor shots have been retaken for all smartphones at the same time.
The HTC One introduces what they are calling the Ultrapixel camera, where the sensor has a lower number of enlarged pixels capable of capturing 300% more light than standard pixel sizes. It caused quite some confusion for consumers, especially given the megapixel race in recent years leading many to believe that the more megapixels, the better the camera.
We weren’t ready to pass judgment until we had the unit in our hands and fully tested the camera. While we’ll reserve our final verdict on the Ultrapixel camera for our review of the HTC One, here are some sample images taken from HTC’s unique Ultrapixel camera.

We took some shots with the HTC One in various lighting conditions, together with the LG Nexus 4, Sony Xperia ZL and BlackBerry Z10. We also recorded 1080p video samples from each device, and all are displayed below.
