Last year, Twitter purchased a music discovery app called We Are Hunted. Things have been pretty quiet ever since the acquisition until last month, where it was reported that the micro-blogging website is planning to launch its very own music service app called Twitter Music. The rumor said that Twitter was set to debut the app on iOS by the end of March, which obviously didn’t happen, but that doesn’t mean it won’t. Twitter is now reported to launch the much-awaited app from as early as tonight.
According to AllThingsD, the app will be able to suggest tracks and artists to users based on who they follow. Users will be allowed to listen to clips of music from inside the app, using third-party services such as iTunes and Sound, users will also be able to watch music videos provided by Vevo.
It’s not official of course, however, there will be a huge music festival happening in California this weekend called Coachella, the perfect time for Twitter to launch its music service. According to AllThingsD, a new source told them that the launch will indeed be happening at the event this weekend so stay tuned as we keep you updated, no puns intended.
