In case you haven’t noticed it yet, SIRIM’s database is slowly becoming one of our favorite hangout spot as of recent. In fact, one of the device that we found in the database (the Samsung Ativ S) was officially launched earlier this week just few days we published our findings. So, it is quite obvious that we are not done with exploring the database just yet because here comes yet another unreleased product that is listed within it.
When the new BlackBerry Z10 is launched in Malaysia last month, the variant that was released into our market – STL100-1 – doesn’t come with LTE connectivity. While we have no idea if and when BlackBerry will eventually release the LTE-capable variant (STL100-2) to consumers, it has appeared on the SIRIM’s database. The device is registered under two well-known official BlackBerry distributor in Malaysia – Brightpoint International and Brightstar .
Physically, there are no differences between both STL100-1 and STL200-2 variant of BlackBerry Z10 but they are indeed equipped with different chipsets internally. The STL100-1 is powered by TI OMAP 4470 system-on-a-chip (SoC) processor which features a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU and PowerVR SGX 544 GPU while the STL100-2 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 that gives the unit a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU and Adreno 225 GPU.
Since we don’t have the STL100-2 variant on our hand right now, we are not able to determine if there are any performances differences between it and STL100-1 but these videos suggested that the LTE-capable variant of BlackBerry Z10 might have slight performance advantages. Interesting indeed.
Meanwhile, we also spotted Samsung Galaxy S 4 in the database as well. While it is needless to say the device will be made available in Malaysia sooner or later, only the Exynos-powered GT-I9500 variant (similar to the one that we reviewed recently and has no LTE connectivity) is currently listed over there. Of course, we can’t kill off the rumor of dual variants just yet since the smartphone is not even available in the market for the time being.
