It looks like smart watches are the new black; Google has recently been reported to be working on their very own Smart Watch that unlike Google Glass that is being created in the company’s X Lab, the smart watch will be developed by the Android team. This means that Google will be looking to integrate the watch with its smartphones. Reported by The Financial Times, according to a 2011 Google patent application for a smart watch, the device could have a dual-screen flip up display and a tactile interface. Of course, the final product could be completely different since the patent was filed years ago.
It wouldn’t be at all surprising if Google was indeed working on a smart watch. Google has showed off its dedication to wearable computing at the recent SXSW 2013 – Google showed off a “talking shoe” along with several partners, as well as new apps that will work with Google Glass.
Samsung recently confirmed that the company is working on their very own smart watch, we’ve seen several new ones earlier this year at CES 2013 like the Pebble Smartwatch, Nike has its Fuel Band, Apple is also rumored to be working on an “iWatch”, so it’ll definitely be interesting to see what the search giant has to offer, especially when it can be integrated with all of Google’s other products.
