Lenovo Malaysia has just announced a massive cash rebate for one of the more interesting hybrid laptops released last year: the IdeaPad Yoga 11, which can be used in four different modes: laptop, stand, tent and tablet modes. The rebate for the Yoga 11, which runs on Windows RT, will see its retail price drop by a staggering RM1000 to RM1599.
As covered during the launch last year, the Yoga 11 runs on the ARM processor architecture instead of standard x86 processors. It is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra T30 processor with 2GB of RAM, and is fitted with a 64GB SSD. There’s also two USB 2.0 ports as well as a HDMI port and card reader. In addition, the Yoga 11 has a five-point multi-touch 1366 x 768 screen which complements gestures on Windows RT. Finally, the Yoga 11 is also preinstalled with Microsoft Office Home & Student 13 RT Preview.
Price reductions on older devices aren’t uncommon, but significant drop for the Windows RT hybrid laptop four months after its local launch – in addition to there being no rebates for the Yoga 13 which offers the full Windows 8 experience – indicates a similar aversion to Windows RT from the Malaysian market compared with the tepid response internationally for Windows RT.
