Nikon’s DX-format sensor is usually reserved only for the use of the company’s digital SLR cameras but now, its usage has since been extended to compact digital cameras with the announcement of the new Nikon Coolpix A digital camera.
Graced with a 16.2-megapixels DX-format sensor, it is not surprising that Nikon has decided to name Coolpix A as the new flagship model of Nikon Coolpix family. The camera is also equipped with a fixed 18.5mm (equivalent to 28mm lens in 35mm format) f/2.8mm prime lens and is designed to work with wide range of accessories such as WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter, DF-CP1 Optical Viewfinder, the UR-E24 Adapter Ring and the HN-CP18 metal Lens Hood.
Furthermore, it also comes with a full-size hot shoe that ensure its compatibility with even more accessories such as Nikon’s own Speedlight flashes. While we have yet to receive any details of its Malaysian release, the new Nikon Coolpix A is scheduled to be out in United States this month with a price tag of RM 3,410 (USD 1,099.95).
