Logged into your Evernote service recently and forced to perform a password reset? Well, that’s because Evernote was hacked. Evernote recently published a blog post stating that it discovered and blocked suspicious activity on its network that attempted to access secured areas of the Evernote Service. As a precaution to protect user data, the service decided to implement a password reset to everyone so don’t be too alarmed, key in your new password and start working again like normal.
According to the blog post, they found no evidence that any content stored in Evernote was accessed, changed or lost. Evernote also stated that no evidence that any payment information for Evernote services were accessed either.
Unfortunately, it seems like the hackers were able to gain access to Evernote user information like username, email addresses associated with Evernote accounts, as well as encrypted passwords. While Evernote seems confident that their one-way encryption is very robust, they are “taking additional steps to ensure that your personal data remains secure”, hence the forced password reset.
If you haven’t already done so, visit Evernote.com now to perform your password reset, you can never be too safe.
