With a large number of Google products like the Nexus lineup of smartphones and tablets, Chromebooks and even Google Glasses, it looks like the company has plans to open standalone retail stores to sell these products. At the moment, apart from selling products online, Google also has pop up-style stores inside Best Buys in the U.S. but Google Stores will not be like those. Instead, the rumored stores will be more like Apple Stores where customers can have a better look and feel of the products in a Google environment; it will also very likely sell other Google-branded merchandise.
According to 9to5Google, the idea came up when Google wanted to sell its Glasses to the public. Customers would definitely need to try them first before forking out $500 to $1,000 to adopt the technology. 9to5Google also mentioned that the store will also provide the company with the opportunity to demonstrate other upcoming and Google X projects like driverless cars and mini-drone delivery systems.
