Apparently ,the Acer Liquid C1 will not be the only new Android smartphone that Acer Malaysia will release into the market next month. Alongside the Intel Atom-powered smartphone will be the new Acer Liquid Z120 – the follow-up to last year’s Liquid Z110.
Just like its predecessor, the new Z120 is also equipped with 3.5-inch HVGA display as well as dual-SIM and dual-standby capability. The device is powered by the MediaTek MT6575 chipset – which features a single-core 1GHz Cortex-A9 CPU and 533MHz PowerVR SGX531 Ultra GPU – that works alongside 4GB worth of internal storage and 512MB RAM. Not to forget, the Acer Liquid Z120 also supports microSD card.
Running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the Acer Liquid Z120 comes together with a 3.0-megapixels rear camera which supports burst mode up to 99 continues shots and a feature called 2.5D image capture which was developed through a collaboration with MediaTek – according to the Acer Malaysia’s rep that showcased the device to us. However, there is no flash for the camera though and the device is also missing a front-facing camera as well.
Story continues after the jump.

Apart from the 2.5D feature, the Acer Liquid Z120 is also equipped with another in-house app that the company called Quick Mode. Acting as a launcher on top, the feature is designed to help ease the transition of first time smartphone users into Android world which is why Quick Mode’s interface looks and functions as per average feature phone.
The Acer Liquid Z120 seems to have a rather short battery life though as its 1300mAh battery is only able to provide up to 4 hours of talk time and 440 hours of standby time. While the prototype unit you have seen here is equipped with a grey back cover, the retail unit will actually come with a black cover instead.
Scheduled to be out in early or middle of March 2013, the Acer Liquid Z120 will be priced at RM 399. For the meantime, check out our hands-on gallery of the device and its technical specifications below.
