Had an awesome long weekend? Let’s start this week with a bunch of updates for your iOS devices. First up, check you iPad and iPhone for a software update because Apple has just released iOS 6.1 . While the update seems pretty useless for us Malaysians – it brings LTE support for additional carriers, allows users in the U.S. to purchase movie tickets using Siri and allows you to reset the Advertising Identifier, do update your device for some improvements and bug fixes. Once updated, before you’re allowed to use your device, you’ll be promoted to fill in 3 security question and answers plus a recovery email if you haven’t already filled them in when they were introduced (quietly) earlier last year; this is the first time I’m seeing it on my iPhone. These steps are optional.
Facebook also released an update for its iOS apps (version 5.4) that allows you to send voice messages to friends and share videos on your wall directly though the app. Unfortunately though, it does not come with the new Graph Search but I guess we can expect that only when Facebook has rolled out the new search feature globally.
Finally, if you’re an active user of Google Drive on iOS, do check for an update too because version 1.2.2 comes with several new features including new fonts on Docs, the ability to upload multiple photos and videos at one go, you can now use pinch to zoom on slides, and QuickOffice users can now open files and save them to Drive.
Check out the iTunes store for the updates.
