The Mercurial line of footballs boots by Nike has always been associated with players that utilize speed as part of their skills on the field, thanks to its lightweight nature. The newly announced Nike Mercurial Vapor IX football boot is still based on the same idea but at the same time, it seems that the sporting giant has also put some emphasis on ball control.
This is done through a new texturized upper that Nike has equipped into the new boot – called Speed Control – which wraps around the foot and provide the boot friction when necessary without affecting the soft touch that player requires. The new upper is also locks down the foot and prevent unnecessary movement within the boot while the minimal and soft heel area is designed to maximize comfort.

Additionally, Nike has also coated the new Mercurial Vapor IX with the all-weather All Conditions Control treatment in order to give the boot consistent level of friction in both dry and wet field conditions. On its sole, the Nike has provided the Mercurial Vapor IX with studs’ configurations that are designed for explosive acceleration while responsive enough for speedy and rapid change in direction during game. Not to forget, the new Nike Mercurial Vapor IX also utilizes a lightweight plate that is made out of two different pieces of glass fibres for flexibility as well as responsiveness.
We have yet to hear from Nike Malaysia about its actual pricing and availability in our market but in general, the new Nike Mercurial Vapor IX is scheduled to be released globally towards the end of this month. For further information, visit www.nikefootball.com.my.
