While the company didn’t actually reveal the 2013 product roadmap of Alcatel One Touch for Malaysian market as what we have previously expected, TCL Communication Technology Holdings is surely ambitious and bullish about the brand’s prospect in our market. According to Liza Woods, the company’s Regional Sales Director for APAC during a recent media briefing, TCL is aiming to capture three to five-percent of the mobile market share in Malaysia through the Alcatel One Touch branding.
When asked on the number of devices that TCL is planning to launch in Malaysia, Liza was unable to give the exact figures but has stated that the company in general has 20 to 25 smartphones as well as 10 to 12 tablets at its disposal globally which many might made their way to Malaysia depending on the market’s demand. In fact, TCL have listed Alcatel One Touch Star and Glory 2 together with the Idol Ultra and Scribe HD as the flagship devices for the first and second quarter of 2013.
While that might sound too much, we will not be surprised if TCL really launched that many devices in Malaysia throughout the year – judging from the company’s recent outing at CES 2013. Meanwhile, stay tuned for our little hands-on preview of five Alcatel One Touch prototype devices (as seen above) that will be made available in the market sometime later this year.
