As mentioned earlier, Celcom has set up two LTE demo area for consumers to experience the company’s upcoming LTE services. One of them is located at Menara Celcom and the other one is the Blue Cube at Sunway Pyramid which we have just visited few hours ago to test out the LTE service ourselves.
According to some of the outlet’s staff that we talked with during our brief visit, the Celcom 4G LTE demo equipment was installed yesterday’s morning. The Celcom 4G LTE experience area at Blue Cube Sunway Pyramid is slightly different from what we saw in the Facebook video previously as the laptop with Huawei LTE USB modem was not around during our visit although both the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE smartphone and MediaPad 10 FHD tablet are present. Interestingly, a Huawei CPE B593 LTE router is also there.
Now, let’s get down to business. Check out the result of our speed test for Celcom 4G LTE using the SpeedTest.net app on the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE smartphone through the Read More link below.
Actual shots of our test results are as below:
[L-R] Test server: TM Net, SentralFon and U Mobile.
[L-R] Test server: Maxis, Yes and STC.
[L-R] Test server: SGIX and FarEasTone
As you can see, the results that we received from our little test above generally show the capability of Celcom 4G LTE network: blazingly fast speed with acceptable ping times. Furthermore, the results also showed that Celcom 4G LTE service seems to be on par with Maxis 4G LTE’s average network speed in which Maxis claims to be around 10 to 30Mbps.
That being said, we didn’t get to repeat the same test on PC since the outlet’s staffs have no access to the Huawei LTE router at the premise. This also restricts us from doing the speed test using US and European servers since only Asia-based servers are listed inside the smartphone’s SpeedTest.net app.
So far, Celcom has yet to spill out further details about its LTE service for consumers in Malaysia. Nevertheless, we were made to understand that the official announcement should come very soon. Hence, if you like what you see above, do stay tuned – the wait shouldn’t be that long anymore.
