As 2013 comes to an end, I can’t help but look back at how Lowyat.TV has grown. I jumped on board in June with the pretense of having fun making YouTube videos. While this gig hasn’t just been fun and games, it’s certainly been something that I’m very passionate about. So without further delay, here are my top 3 videos from Lowyat.TV
First up is the very first video I ever did for Lowyat.TV, a simple review video of the LowePro Flipside Sport camera backpack. While the video in itself is fairly simple, what went on behind the scenes was a lot more interesting. First of all, we only had a puny 300ml bottle of water to share between the three of us. Add to the fact that it was both Lucas’ and Pang’s first time climbing Bukit Tabur, this made for a very thirsty climb. So much so, we ended up begging for water from some random hikers along the way. This video has a special place in my heart because it really did set the tone (in my eyes at least) for Lowyat.TV content. This video is also the only video where we see our dear writers out in the wild!
Next up is the first episode of The Movement, a documentary series that focuses on up and coming Malaysians and what ‘moves’ them. Producing documentaries has always been something I love and to finally have a documentary series to call my own has been a wonderful experience. The support we received from Renyi and the rest of the MyBurgerLab team really pushed both Lucas and I to produce a good documentary. Cramming 80 hours worth of editing in half a week took me back to the days when I used to edit broadcast documentaries professionally. While there haven’t been any subsequent episodes of The Movement, footage has been shot but the edit process has yet to begin. All I can say is, watch out for more episodes of The Movement in 2014!
Last but not least, was our parody video of the atrocious Nikon video, “A new way to Selfie”. It took us a day to come up with the concept and another day to edit it all together. If the original video from Nikon was still live, you could actually use YouTube Doubler and compare how close we came to replicating the original, shot for shot!
That’s it for my Top 3 of 2013 and I look forward to what 2014 holds in store for Lowyat.TV. Here’s to more fun, more games and more awesomeness!
